Who We Are

A Foundation Built to Raise a Voice & Make Things Happen

We are a group of like-minded individuals working together on activities within our communities. Our first project is addressing Avoidable Blindness among children aged 5–15 in government, government-aided and residential schools across Karnataka.

The Beginning — Bengaluru & Hassan

Our first screenings (before the Foundation was formally registered) covered Bengaluru city and four taluks in Hassan district.

Foundation Formally Established

Dhwanishristi Foundation was officially registered, and the journey deepened — expanding coverage in Hassan and beyond.

Tumkur & Ramanagara

In collaboration with Vaishnavi Lions Service Foundation, we expanded into Tumkur and supported screenings in Ramanagara.

Our mission in action Our vision for children

Our Mission

To ensure students at primary and secondary schools are efficiently screened and provided with the necessary care to preserve and restore their vision.

Our Vision

No student is left behind in our drive to reduce avoidable blindness.

What We Do

Our Programs & Focus Areas

A comprehensive approach to children’s eye health — from screening to treatment to education.

Primary Eye Screening

Systematic vision screening camps at government and aided schools across Karnataka. Our trained team uses technology-assisted tools to identify refractive errors and other conditions quickly and accurately.

  • Digital screening equipment
  • Covers Classes 1 through 10
  • Zero cost to the child

Secondary evaluation

Children from Classes 1 through 10 who don't do well in primary screening undergo further assessment by our trained optometrists, and spectacles are prescribed where vision can be improved

Tertiary Referral & Treatment

Children who need surgical or advanced non-surgical care are referred to our network of partner hospitals and specialists — ensuring no child falls through the cracks after screening.

Eye Health Education

Raising awareness about eye health, hygiene and early warning signs among children, teachers and parents. Empowered communities lead to faster detection and better outcomes.

Community Networking

Building a strong network with local doctors, NGOs, government bodies, and medical colleges to create a self-sustaining ecosystem of children’s eye health across the state.

Education & Research

Data-driven research on childhood vision impairment patterns in Karnataka — informing better policy and ensuring our interventions remain evidence-based and scalable.

Why It Matters

Uncorrected Vision Is a Silent Barrier to Learning

Millions of children across India sit in classrooms unable to read the blackboard, not because they lack intelligence — but because no one has ever checked their eyesight. Without early intervention, this leads to avoidable academic failure and, in many cases, permanent visual impairment that could have been prevented with a simple eye test.

  • 12 million children in India suffer from avoidable blindness
  • 80% of all vision impairment is preventable or treatable
  • 1 in 5 school children has an undetected vision problem
  • Most government school children never receive a single eye exam
  • Untreated amblyopia before age 8 can cause permanent vision loss
  • Children with poor vision often face reduced educational opportunities

“A pair of spectacles can transform a child’s entire academic journey. This is one of the highest-impact, lowest-cost interventions in public health.”

What People Are Saying

Real stories from children, teachers and parents whose lives were changed by a simple eye test.
